Adding Hygge Touches to your space

Whilst it may be starting to brighten up outside, it’s still bitterly cold and rainy (particularly if you live in Manchester like me). And when I’m not at work, I’ve been tucked up at home getting cosy - because when it’s wet, frosty and cold outside - you want to be warm and cosy inside. So I thought why not share some of my favourite ways to add hygge touches to your space to make sure your home is as cosy as can be.

Soft Touches

When you step into a space, it should instantly feel soft - this doesn’t mean you can’t have wooden flooring, it just means you need to have a bit of softness like a carpet. I’m a huge fan of layering a rug over a carpet as it gives you the ability to switch up the vibe for a space without having to spend too much. A carpet genuinely transforms the space as it can also define zones and spaces. Another good way to add soft touches is to have throws or blankets on the bed and sofas - instantly adding the cosy factor.

Ambient lighting

No space with fluorescent lighting has ever been described as cosy - so getting a lighting alternative or installing some fairy lights can really soften a room. I’m a huge fan of using plenty of lamps and standing lights over overhead lights.

Scenting the space

A fragrance has a massive impact on how a space feels - so I’d always recommend putting some thought into this. Whether that’s dotting a few diffusers around the room or having a candle burning - it makes an impact. I also like fragrance sachets that can be hung on the back of doors or in wardrobes - they’re subtle but add a gentle scent.

What are some of your favourite ways to add a sense of cosiness to the room?
