The Gluten Free "Bake": Raw Energy Bites

I love food. Food is brilliant. But I also love unhealthy food, particularly chocolate based. But this is a habit I've been determined to kick which is why I decided to whip up some energy bites which are perfect for that 4pm afternoon slump.

Makes 9-10 dependent on size.

  • 1 cup of medjool dates (you can use any dates but medjool are the softest)
  • 1/2 cup ground almonds (so much easier than blending almonds yourself!)
  • 1/2 cup broken up hazelnuts
  • 2 tbsp chia seeds
  • 2 tbsp flax seed
  • 1 tbsp melted coconut oil
  • 1 tbsp Superfood XS powder
  • 1 tbsp cacao powder (not cocoa)
Then simply blend the dates, and then add in the rest. But beware, the dough is very sticky so be careful if your blender is on the sensitive side.

And voila! Pop them in the fridge and enjoy! These literally took less than 10 minutes to make and they're so yummy! The raw cacao powder is basically raw cocoa so it gives a great kick if you're a chocoholic and the sweetness of the dates helps satisfy your sweet tooth.

These delicious little bites are jammed pack full of nutrients - the superfood xs powder is flavourless yet contains over 10 freezedried fruit and veg.

Let me know if you try them! If you fancy hopping on the healthy eating bandwagon, check out the MyProtein fitness page for more inspiration!
